A Interpretive Structural Modeling Approach for Evaluating the Enablers Affecting Sustainable Development in Indian Handmade Carpet Industry

摘要

This research employs an interpretive structural modelling (ISM) methodology to evaluate the factors that facilitate sustainable development in the Indian handmade carpet sector. After conducting a thorough examination of existing research, we have identified 15 crucial factors that facilitate or support a particular outcome. Their interrelationships are elucidated through the incorporation of insights from industry professionals as well as academic specialists. The ISM technique is utilized to create a ranking system for these factors, aided by the creation of a Structural Self-Interaction Matrix and a subsequent reachability matrix. In addition, a MICMAC analysis is performed to ascertain the driving force and reliance of each enabler, thereby classifying them into influential drivers and dependent factors. This thorough research offers a strategic perspective on prioritising activities that improve sustainable practices in the sector. The report provides significant insights for stakeholders to efficiently tackle sustainability concerns in the Indian woollen carpet industry.
