Fostering Student Subjective Well-Being for the Third Decade of the Twenty-First Century Using PISA: The Macao Perspective
摘要
Entering the second decade of the twenty-first century, student well-being stands high in the research agenda of OECD’s Programme of International Student Assessment (PISA). Macao schools have relied very much on the assessment results to render healthy school life to students it sought to serve. This chapter seeks to review pertinent literature on individual and societal well-being. It elucidates the definition of student well-being adopted in PISA 2018 and based on its conceptual and research framework to derive a number of subjective well-being indicators (i.e., overall life satisfaction, affect balance, fear of failure, resilience, and meaning in life) which are analyzed from a comparative education perspective. The implications of these findings are significant for promoting healthy student development in Macao and beyond.
