In this paper, I analyze 57 interviews that I conducted with Syrian migrant women living in Istanbul. I will examine how Syrian women who have sought refuge from the Syrian Civil War in Turkey develop self-technologies to empower their resilience while constructing an identity in limbo. These women exist in limbo as they try to settle down and make a life in a new country under the structures of the Temporary Protection Regulation, the legislative framework delimiting their status and rights. This existence in the limbo is well suited to exploring identities on the threshold between hospitality and hostility, welcome and rejection. My examination of identity construction is informed by narratives gathered by qualitative research methods.
