Evolution of Energy Storage System and Its Life-Saving Applications
摘要
The evolution of energy storage systems has transformed the procedure of energy capturing, storing, and utilization across miscellaneous sectors, from commercial electronics to crucial life-saving equipment. Primarily fixated on simple energy retention, energy storage technologies have advanced considerably with innovations in mechanical, thermal, chemical, electrochemical, and hybrid systems. The improvements has managed to reach higher energy densities, improved efficiency, faster response times, and longer lifespans. Technologies like Li-ion and Li–S batteries have facilitated compact and effective solutions for medical devices, emergency equipment, and wearable health monitors, while large-scale solutions like grid storage systems supply trustworthy power for hospitals, industries and critical infrastructures. Furthermore, hybrid storage systems, combining distinct energy storage systems, deliver robust power for electric vehicles and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems that are crucial in disaster-stricken regions and for serious medical care. As renewable energy sources become predominant, innovative energy storage systems play a vital role in storing intermittent energy, safeguarding an unwavering power resource for remote areas, and healthcare facilities. This chapter conveys the evolution of these systems, and their next-generation applications.
