There has been plenty of coverage of the plight of the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, which has been hosting over 1.2 million refugees since 2017. This chapter focuses on the lesser-known Rohingya refugees living in India. It examines the displacement and migration of the refugees using various routes, the pattern of resettlement, and humanitarian issues linked to discrimination, Islamophobia, religious profiling, legal status, and pathetic living conditions characterized by lack of access to basic services and employment. Finally, it discusses the rising concern over their detention and deportation from India, particularly under the regime of the right-wing Hindu majoritarian BJP-led government. The materials used are from various available secondary sources, and from independent and verified reporting by UNHCR and other trusted nonprofit organizations. The Rohingya families living in Delhi and Haryana expressed fear to be interviewed. A set of recommendations has been provided for improving their social and living conditions and Rohingya rights to seek asylum and resettlement in India.
