This article reflects on the relatively brief history of urban planning as a discipline. The opportunity to engage in discussion within the framework of an exploratory initiative such as Urbanpromo, combined with the significance of the proposed theme, led me to organize this contribution around the selected papers for discussion. In doing so, I provide some general considerations on the evolving forms of contemporary urban planning outputs. My aim is to revisit the remarks I made during the Urbanpromo conference, while also offering a preliminary discussion of my underlying thoughts to clarify what I expressed at the time and now present in written form.
