Steer-by-wire is one of the key technologies in the current automotive development. Compared with the traditional steering system, because it has no mechanical gear mechanism with rack and pinion, the design idea has undergone great changes, and the gear ratio has variable characteristics and a large range, which helps to improve the vehicle dynamic stability performance. Aiming at this feature, this paper proposes a test method of steer-by-wire variable gear ratio based on driving simulator, and modifies the variable gear ratio control strategy by relying on virtual user experience. The practice proves that the result is in good agreement with the real car adjustment, indicating that the development of the variable gear ratio control strategy of steer-by-wire in virtual environment is reliable.
