Based on the 5Rs method outlined in Chapter Six, this chapter provides a case study where we apply the method to reanalyze data collected through semi-structured interviews conducted in 2021-2022 to study the formation and evolution of the October 2018 migrant caravan. The goal of this method is to study motives that were not coded as such in the original research and bring to light participants’ experiences that were not previously explored or analyzed because of the limitations of studying motives with qualitative data. The chapter is divided into four sections: first, we provide the background of the study. Second, we describe the methods used to collect the dataset and discuss the way forward for the secondary qualitative analysis. Third, we apply the 5Rs method to the case study of the migrant caravan. We end this chapter highlighting the advantages and benefits of applying the 5Rs method.
