Clubbing and Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy (HOA)
摘要
In 1897, Samuel West stated: ‘Clubbing is one of those phenomena with which we are all so familiar that we appear to know more about it than we really do’. Despite its ubiquitous occurrence in pulmonary disorders, the pathological pathways of clubbing (and hypertrophic osteoarthropathy) remain undefined. In this chapter, the various conditions that lead to clubbing and hypertrophic osteoarthropathy have been discussed along with their distinguishing characteristics and pathophysiologic mechanisms. Also discussed are the diagnostic mimics of clubbing, the conditions responsible for differential clubbing, and the imaging of clubbing and hypertrophic osteoarthropathy.
