Rapid Urbanization and Industrialization are the key to the development of any nation. In the recent years due to the rapid growth in the urban areas, construction sectors are one of the largest sectors of the growth of any country. Due to the urbanization, Demolition of the existing or fatigues structures or the new construction will have produced huge amount of demolition and construction waste. Demolition and Construction (D&C) waste materials is the most common type of waste generated in the country. Additionally, the re-construction and renovation of the structures produced large quantities of D&C wastes. As the point of environmental concern, illegal dumping and not in use of produced waste results in scarcity of land, dust pollution and other hazards due to dumping of waste in open drains, water channels, empty lands and mixing up with MSW (Municipal Solid Waste). This paper provides the current situation of D&C waste productions and case studies of some Indian Cities and also discussed the utilization of recycled D&C waste products in the various fields of civil engineering for the better sustainable and pollution free development of the nation.
