Design and Construction of Basement Wall and Column Pile Foundation in Karstic Limestone Formation—Case Study
摘要
The present case study details on design and construction of basement wall for deep excavation to construct five-level basement for car parking and high-rise (32 storey) building column foundation in karstic limestone formation covering the challenges faced and solutions adopted during the detailed design and construction. The case study on deep excavation shows the use of bored piles in karstic limestone formation in the form of secant bored pile (SBP) wall as watertight retention system for outer periphery wall and contiguous bored pile (CBP) wall at deeper lift pit location for inner wall, by using temporary/permanent strutting system with partial top-down and bottom-up construction method for basement works. Instrumentation monitoring for safety of the existing surrounded structures/buildings. The case study on column foundation shows the use of single pile foundation system predominantly for the columns support with appropriate cavity treatment prior to the piling works at site, to transfer the estimated column loads to the competent sub-soil.
