In the present scenario, bulk utilization of industrial waste materials as alternate geo-materials is really essential and necessary through all over the world. This study investigates the strength characteristics of bentonite mixed fly ash as a geo-material. Fly ash is a well-known industrial waste which generated from thermal power stations. It is a non-plastic material having low strength. In order to use it for construction purposes, it is essential to enhance its strength characteristics. On the other hand, bentonite is a commercially available clay that is adhesive in nature. A small amount of bentonite can improve the strength of the fly ash. In present study, bentonite has been added with fly ash, i.e., 0, 5, 10, 15, 20% in terms of the dry weight of fly ash and laboratory experiments like, specific gravity, grain size, liquid limit, plastic limit and compaction have been performed to evaluate basic geotechnical properties of fly ash and bentonite mixed fly ash samples. A series of unconfined compressive strength tests have been performed on fly ash and bentonite mixed fly ash with varying curing period and bentonite content. Results indicate that the bentonite can be used as a stabilizer in order to enhance the strength characteristics of fly ash. At 28 days curing period, the strength improvement of fly ash is significant due to the addition of bentonite. For 20% bentonite content, the strength improvement of fly ash is about 166% after 28 days of curing.
