Climate-Resilient Technologies for Food Crop Production
摘要
Increased frequencies of extreme weather events are projected by climate change and are among the greatest threats to global food crop production. This is due to increased temperatures, irregular patterns of rainfall, and soil degradation that have rendered farmers’ work uncertain and unreliable in many regions. Urgent steps must be taken to create farm systems resilient to environmental shocks that ensure food for an increasingly expanding population. This chapter will focus on climate-resilient technologies and the role they have played in this respect. Advanced developments like crop varieties with resistance to drought stress, precision irrigation systems, and soil health management practices all form part of its productivity and sustainability contributions. This chapter will provide the practical tools that bridge traditional knowledge into modern science while providing practical ways to alter production in food crops with changing climatic conditions.
