Biomonitoring studies of environmental polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contamination using animals are very useful and have been carried out worldwide. Many of these studies have used bivalves and fish in aquatic environments and land snails and crustaceans in terrestrial environments. A major advantage of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon biomonitoring is that, unlike simple analysis of environmental matrix samples, the use of biological samples makes it possible to investigate contamination spatially and temporally. At the same time, by analyzing the concentrations in living organisms, it is possible to evaluate the biological effects taking into account bioavailability data.

摘要
