Smart Campus: A Case of Sustainable In-House Transportation Solution

Large campus design and harsh weather make campus mobility a significant problem for all educational institutes. Students and teachers are traveling long distances due to a lack of parking near academic buildings and a lack of proper in-campus transportation services, which makes time management and physical exhaustion, especially during the summer when temperatures can get beyond 45 ℃. To solve these issues and guarantee everyone's safety and convenience, creative solutions are needed. Thus, this paper presents a smart sustainable solution to resolve this problem in general and specifically for Prince Sultan University, Riyadh. The paper presents a complete plan to solve this critical problem by using various possible solution. A detailed literature review has been carried out for this research and following by a qualitative and quantitative assessment. A life cycle assessment is conducted to propose a suitable smart and sustainable solution for institutional buildings. This findings of the paper contributes to UN-SDG 9 and 11. Such actions are also consistent with Saudi Arabia's focus on infrastructure development and high standards of education.
