For construction projects to have a positive environmental impact, increase operational effectiveness, and foster long-term sustainability, effective energy management is crucial. This chapter emphasizes the significance of implementing energy-efficient methods throughout the planning, execution, and operation phases of all projects, as the construction industry continues to be a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. It highlights important energy-saving techniques, such as utilizing energy-efficient materials in both temporary and permanent structures, integrating smart technologies, and utilizing renewable energy sources. To reduce energy loss, this chapter examines the crucial roles that sophisticated monitoring systems, facade optimization, and building envelope design play. It goes on to address the use of energy management frameworks like ISO 50001 and the significance of energy and green audits in creating a continuous improvement culture. The special difficulties that emerging countries face—such as inadequate funding, a lack of technical know-how, and lax enforcement of policies—are also highlighted. These issues frequently prevent the widespread adoption of energy-efficient methods. In order to close this gap, effective case studies and worldwide best practices are analyzed, providing useful insights and replicable models. This chapter ends with policy suggestions meant to encourage capacity growth, regulatory support, and technical advancement in order to accomplish thorough energy optimization in building projects. This chapter demonstrates, using a multidisciplinary lens, how energy management enhances stakeholder value and project feasibility in addition to promoting environmental stewardship.

摘要
