This chapter examines the implementation and evolution of green procurement practices in the construction sector, with particular emphasis on emerging economies. Through systematic review of literature and analysis of case studies across multiple regions, we investigate how sustainable sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation frameworks, and innovative procurement policies can effectively mitigate environmental impacts while promoting social equity and economic resilience. The research methodology combines qualitative analysis of procurement policies, quantitative assessment of environmental impacts, and comparative evaluation of implementation strategies across developed and emerging markets. Key findings reveal that successful green procurement initiatives in emerging economies require: (1) contextualized adaptation of global standards, (2) robust capacity-building programs, and (3) technology-enabled transparency mechanisms. The study demonstrates that while emerging markets face unique challenges in implementing green procurement, innovative approaches combining local knowledge with global best practices can yield significant environmental and social benefits. This research contributes to both theoretical understanding and practical implementation of sustainable procurement in developing regions.
