Quality Assurance and Control Practices in Construction Projects
摘要
This chapter comprehensively overviews the construction industry’s quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes. It examines the systematic approaches to ensure construction projects meet specified quality standards and requirements. Through theoretical frameworks and practical examples, readers gain insights into the key components of QA/QC, including quality planning, inspection and testing, and corrective action procedures. The chapter explores strategies for implementing QA/QC programs, including establishing quality objectives, defining quality metrics, and conducting regular audits and inspections. Additionally, it discusses the importance of collaboration among project stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, to achieve and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. The chapter highlights how Lean Construction principles and advanced technologies, like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and IoT, can significantly support QA/QC practices. By understanding the principles and practices of QA/QC, construction professionals can enhance project quality, minimize defects and rework, and ultimately deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
