Exploring the Influence of Solvents on the Wettability Characteristics of As-Synthesized Few-Layer Molybdenum Diselenide (MoSe2)
摘要
In recent years, numerous transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have been extensively studied due to their exceptional properties, including tunable bandgaps, layered structures, and rich active sites. These properties make them highly suitable for a variety of applications in different fields. The interaction between Van der Waals forces plays a crucial role in determining key surface properties, such as adhesion, wettability, and adsorption. In this study, MoSe2 was synthesized via liquid phase exfoliation (LPE) in three different solvents: N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), Dimethylformamide (DMF), and Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO). The influence of these solvents on the contact angles between different layers of MoSe2 was investigated to better understand their interfacial properties. The contact angles of MoSe2 with water droplets were recorded as 48.8º, 74º, and 54.1º, respectively. This study suggests that the surface properties of a material can be tailored for specific applications by carefully choosing the appropriate solvent for its synthesis.
