Basic Characteristics of GaN Monocrystals

Nitride semiconductor materials mainly refer to thin films and monocrystalline materials including gallium nitride (GaN), aluminum nitride (AlN), indium nitride (InN), and their alloys such as InGaN, AlGaN, etc. There are mainly two types of crystal structures for nitride semiconductor materials: wurtzite structure and zinc-blende structure. Only the wurtzite structure is stable under normal temperature and pressure. The wurtzite structure is a hexagonal crystal system, defined by point group 6 mm, space group P63 mc (186).
