Measuring Citizen Satisfaction in Urban Services of Bangladesh
摘要
This chapter focuses on methodologies and frameworks for assessing citizen satisfaction with urban services in Bangladesh. Various methodologies, such as surveys, interviews, and community feedback, are introduced as primary tools for measuring satisfaction. The chapter examines government and NGO-led frameworks for assessing urban governance, noting their structured approaches to evaluation. Findings from recent studies in Bangladesh are discussed, showing patterns of satisfaction and dissatisfaction among urban dwellers, especially in relation to municipal services. Empirical data is presented to illustrate citizens’ experiences, offering insights into the most valued services and areas needing improvement. The SERVQUAL model is applied to assess service delivery standards in various urban sectors. Specific citizen satisfaction assessments are provided for street lighting, waste management, water supply, and drainage systems, revealing both successes and challenges in these areas. The chapter provides a comprehensive view of citizen perceptions and the effectiveness of current urban service delivery mechanisms.
