IoT in Transportation Systems

The smart technology that has emerged in the current generation has captured day-to-day life activities and promotes a fast pace in every process. The older systems are constantly being updated with rapid technological changes. More eco-friendly systems are being developed with greener technologies for more efficient, sustainable, reliable, and safe processes. In this paper, a SWOC analysis has been conducted to assess the feasibility of adapting IoT in transportation through a detailed research methodology to find proper literature and execute a literature review of selected work in the field of IoT and IoT in transportation. Addressing issues that have proven to be multidimensional due to strong vehicle growth and challenges to traffic management systems. Some unconventional and innovative solutions are needed to address the problems at a scale that is likely in the near future. The integration of the Internet-of-Things into the transportation system is leading to the notion of an intelligent transportation system to help address issues such as safety concerns and resource availability, traffic congestion, and transport overload. Relieving the burden on humans by integrating the physical world with software-based systems.
