Indian Edtech Post COVID-19—Fertile Grounds for Investors

COVID-19 resulted in acceptability and growth of e-learning worldwide. Due to pandemic-led restrictions, the scope of e-learning is widening worldwide. In India also there is an emergence of education technology “EdTech” sector, which is predicted to reach to US$30 billion industry by 2030. A number of players have reached the status of unicorn. Till June 2022, there are seven unicorns in the EdTech sector namely Byju’s, Unacademy, Eruditus, Lead, Vedantu, Upgrad, and latest entry is PhysicsWallah. The New Education Policy, strengthen in 2023, offered structural reforms in the education sector by emphasizing the role of technology and flipped class. Thus, article provides an overview of EdTech sector in India—as a land of opportunities for the investors, details of major players along with the myriads of issues and challenges in the Indian education sector along with potential solutions that can be offered by different stakeholders in the Indian EdTech industry.
