When the New Confucians of the modern period focus on issues of coordination between democracy and science, the space for the development of Confucianism seems to lie in an attention to the development of China’s modernization. Therefore, New Confucianism faces an irreconcilable internal contradiction. While adhering to Confucian positions marks their irreplaceable significance for the Chinese people, the values of Confucianism need to be proven consistent with the Western model.

When the New Confucians of the modern period focus on issues of coordination between democracy and science, the space for the development of Confucianism seems to lie in an attention to the development of China’s modernization.
