Blockchain technology has the potential for providing solutions to the need for increased security, transparency, and management of patient consent. Centralized systems which are routinely integrated in traditional consent processes, limit a patient’s control over their data and threaten a great risk to their privacy. Blockchain’s decentralized architecture combined with smart contracts offers new solutions by leveraging data access, increasing security, and allowing patients to control their personal healthcare consumption data. While challenges such as capacity building and regulatory compliance remain, the model demonstrates how blockchain can play a significant role in changing business processes by promoting security and better data management.

摘要
