Biocompatible Nanocomposites: Synthesis, Challenges, and Future Prospects in Biomedical Applications

Biocompatible nanocomposites are the most promising types of nanocomposites, which combine biocompatibility with mechanical, structural, and functional properties. In this chapter, we focus on a detailed analysis of the synthesis techniques, potential applications, and drawbacks associated with these novel materials. The ability to fine-tune their structure and composition enables biocompatible nanocomposites to be specifically tailored for various biomedical applications. However, certain issues, including nanoparticle dispersion, toxicity, scalability, and regulatory challenges, pose significant obstacles to their use in clinical practice. This chapter also discusses the potential future advancements in fabricating multi-functional systems and explores large-scale manufacturing methods to enhance the transition from laboratory research to practical applications. By addressing these challenges, biocompatible nanocomposites have the potential to revolutionize healthcare, offering sustainable and efficient solutions to critical medical needs.
