Intelligent highway sensing system (IHSS) has generated a tremendous positive change in road safety, high-quality travel and traffic management. However, with the rapid development of intelligent software technology and traffic sensors, the existing highway traffic management lacks systems to overall sense and use the high-resolution spatio-temporal information and combine all kind of sensors together. Therefore, one intelligent highway sensing system based on millimeter wave radar-video integrated sensor and advanced software technology is proposed, which can present and issue traffic state information carrying geospatial information. The system contains five parts: high-definition map of highway construction, data acquisition and preparation, data transmitting protocol formulation, software construction, highway traffic state presentation.
