This chapter discusses the development of the Internet and social networks. With the rapid development of the World Wide Web, its reach is gradually extending from technology to everyday life. The rise of social networks stems from the ecological revolution of the Internet. Communication technology creates the conditions for individual self-empowerment in modern society. Before we begin to analyze how the Internet affects daily life, it is necessary to briefly review the history of the Internet’s development. This chapter introduces the new ecology of social networks, the development and trends of the Internet in China, and the industrial clusters related to social networks.
