This chapter explores the spirit of teachers as a foundational element for sustainable teacher education development in China. The spirit of Chinese teachers refers to their psychological activities, ideology, thinking mode, individual behaviors, and overall spiritual outlook. It reflects the ideal beliefs, value pursuits, moral standards, spiritual support, and internal motivations that guide teachers in their profession. Characteristics of this spirit including national inclusiveness, innovation of the times, individual uniqueness, group cooperation and people oriented are considered as the spirit of teachers. Rooted in China’s rich traditional culture, the spirit of Chinese teachers represents the educational philosophy, thinking, intrinsic motivation, and practical behaviors developed by teachers in different historical backgrounds, which is the embodiment of teachers’ moral and spiritual outlook.
