Processes Used in the Production of Methanol
摘要
Methanol, as an alcohol, is a versatile chemical intermediate that is used in a wide range of industries. Since there are different methods for its production, according to the biomass production method, various processes are used in the production of methanol. Some processes may be common to different methods. So, its production may involve several processes that typically begins with the generation of syngas, a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen and its preparation. This chapter delves into the various processes employed for methanol synthesis and production. The importance of methanolization process parameters including temperature, pressure, and gas composition as preparation processes of methanol synthesis reaction has been investigated. Furthermore, traditional methods such as steam reforming of natural gas, as well as emerging technologies and more recent methods like coal gasification, biomass gasification, biochemical and electrocatalytic methods, and so on are examined.
