Construction of any structure on clayey soil becomes risky due to its water-absorbing properties and sudden settlement change. Many stabilization techniques are used for its improvement. In the recent years, the utilization of fly ash and plastic is on trend, because these waste materials can be used better to improve the soil’s geotechnical properties rather than occupying space in landfills. These are promising materials in terms of waste utilization and economical solutions. Fly ash gives Cementitious bonding to the soil and plastic waste fibre induces reinforcement in the soil. This study aims to analyse the effect of adding fly ash and plastic strips on clayey soil in different ratios. The addition of Fly ash (FA) in different ratios (5, 10, 15, and 20% by weight of soil) is used, and the inclusion of Plastic Waste Strips (PWS) in different proportions (0.3, 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2%) with the soil-fly ash mixture. The engineering properties that are studied are the Compaction test, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS), and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) both unsoaked and soaked. Results conclude that the strength of soil increases with the inclusion of fly ash and plastic waste strips. The optimum blending ratio is 15% of fly ash and 0.9% of PWS in soil. Both unsoaked and soaked CBR and UCS have a positive correlation between them.

摘要
