Introduction
摘要
This chapter introduces the concept, evolution, and characteristics of Cryohydrology. Initially, it explores the connections between the cryosphere, water and society, encompassing the geographical distribution of cryospheric components worldwide, the cryosphere water resource, and the relationship between cryosphere and global water cycle. Subsequently, the development of the Cryohydrology discipline is discussed, including its origins, its relationship with Cryospheric Science, and its connection to hydrology in cold regions. The chapter concludes by outlining the disciplinary system of Cryohydrology, including its research content, discipline characteristics, and its interrelationships with other fields.
