Inflammatory responses mediated by the components of the immune system have always been associated with various illnesses including cancer. Several treatment strategies including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy are employed in treating cancer but they are often associated with side effects. Over the past few years, preclinical studies on antitumor immunity have led to the development of clinically effective cancer immunotherapies, enhancing our understanding of cancer-related inflammation. In this scenario, the current chapter highlights the importance of targeting inflammation in cancer treatment and the methods by which this can be achieved as inflammation-related biological mechanisms are involved across several phases of cancer progression.
