In the realm of design education, understanding user behavior and experiences is paramount for creating meaningful and impactful solutions. User journey mapping and storyboarding have emerged as valuable tools for dissecting user interactions and visualizing scenarios within specific contexts. However, their individual applications may offer limited insights, particularly in educational settings where a comprehensive understanding of user behavior is crucial. Interviews were conducted among 50 design students, to better understand and establish the need for such an approach. This research paper proposes the development of an integrated tool that combines the strengths of both techniques to enhance educational comprehension of user situations and behavioral patterns. In response to this gap, our study seeks to integrate the strengths of both techniques into a cohesive educational tool. By synthesizing the narrative-driven approach of storyboarding with the systematic analysis of user journey mapping, our proposed tool facilitates a multidimensional exploration of user experiences and behaviors. Through a series of iterative design processes and user testing, we aim to create a user-friendly interface that enables educators and learners to collaboratively construct and visualize user scenarios in various contexts. The proposed tool has been validated through user testing among 100 design students. The significance of this research lies in its potential to enhance educational practices by fostering a deeper understanding of user-centric design principles and empathy-driven problem-solving. By empowering students with the ability to analyze, conceptualize, and communicate user situations effectively, our tool promotes critical thinking skills and fosters a human-centered mindset essential for success in diverse fields. This paper contributes to the discourse on design education by proposing a practical framework for integrating design tools into pedagogical approaches, ultimately advancing the development of empathetic and socially responsible designers.

摘要
