Design and Investigation of a Small Quasi-Self-Complementary UWB Implantable Antenna
摘要
A simple UWB printed quasi-self-complementary antenna is presented in this study. The antenna is intended for use in medical and healthcare applications. The compact size of the antenna makes it easy to implant the antenna in the human body. For the substrate of the antenna, FR4 was used. The key parameters such as reflection coefficient, VSWR, radiation parameter and gain of the antenna are investigated, and the results are recorded. Radiation pattern of the antenna was checked at four frequencies, 4 GHz, 6 GHz, 8 GHz and 10 GHz. The antenna was also surrounded by three layers of human body in order to assess possible changes in its performance due to implantation. Evaluation of antenna’s performance was conducted in both free space and after implantation. The efficiency of the antenna after implantation into the human body is demonstrated by the comparison of its radiation characteristics, gain, and directivity, in both the environments. CST Studio Suite software was used for the entire design.
