Smart Home Automation Using ESP32: A Prototype for Energy Efficiency and User Convenience
摘要
As highlighted in this paper, this smart home automation system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller, relay module and the household bulbs with Amazon Alexa voice enabled. For remote and automated control, the system developed is an affordable and easy to use solution in the realm of smart homes—key issues that have hindered the popularity of IoT networks. Based on the articles and documentaries of smart home automation, the major complications include security, compatibility, as well as cloud reliance problems. To address these, the study will recommend an adoption of end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication to improve on the security of the platform. To enhance this compatibility, the system integrates with open protocols like MQTT allowing integration with Apple HomeKit and Google home and among others. To minimize on loading cloud services, edge computing is used hence processing of data is done locally on ESP32; data is only processed within the confines of the home to enhance security. From this approach, it is easy to see how it’s cost effective and flexible model can solve a number of IoT challenges in smart home automation. The results provide a basis for development of safer, more effective and available Smart Home conditions for various users.
