This paper proposes an Intelligent Traffic Management System, ITMS, utilizing AI to improve traffic flow in cities, particularly during emergency events. By employing the YOLOv8 object detection algorithm, the ITMS can detect ambulances in real-time feeds of camera imagery, monitoring traffic status in real time. After detecting the presence of an ambulance, it can dynamically adjust traffic light signals to allow traffic to clear the way while minimizing response delay. This solution improves public safety, eliminates congestion, and encourages the efficient movement of the city.
