Supporting Landscape Restoration for Resilient Ecosystems
摘要
This chapter explores the pressing issue of land degradation, a global crisis characterized by soil erosion, deforestation, and desertification. The far-reaching consequences of this environmental challenge include declining agricultural productivity, biodiversity loss, and exacerbated climate change. However, the chapter posits that land restoration offers a viable solution to mitigate these impacts. By restoring degraded lands, we can enhance food security, regulate climate through carbon sequestration, protect biodiversity, and improve human well-being. The chapter emphasizes the economic benefits of ecosystem restoration and its role in achieving sustainable development goals. It advocates for an integrated approach to land management that prioritizes restoration and sustainable practices.
