Sustainable land management (SLM) practices are vital for upholding the balance between biodiversity conservation and effective land resource productivity. SLM practices have the potential to support different forms of life by protecting natural ecosystems from destruction and degradation. Biodiversity is considered a critical element for safeguarding food security and enhancing livelihoods, especially for communities living on the forest edge. This chapter aims to explore the role of SLM practices in supporting biodiversity conservation through habitat and ecosystem restoration. A more effective conceptual approach to SLM can enhance land productivity and support biodiversity conservation. Popularizing SLM concepts and practices will support livelihood activities and stimulate biodiversity. There is a complex nexus between SLM, biodiversity, and sustainable development goals (SDGs). These interconnected linkages are crucial for supporting food security, maintaining ecological balance, and promoting the sustainable development of ecosystems. Out of the 17 SDGs, seven are closely linked to land resource productivity, while SDG 15 is dedicated to supporting life on Earth by addressing land degradation, deforestation, and biodiversity decline through integrated farming practices. This chapter delves into the linkage between SLM and biodiversity and how food security is associated with SLM practices. It also talks about how sustainable farming, agriculture, habitat restoration, and wetland conservation contribute to preserving biodiversity.
