Sustainable Growth Strategies: Integrating Climate Neutrality into BRICS National Development Plans
摘要
This chapter discusses how conventional national development strategies and climate neutrality action plans can be incorporated in BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Considering the fact that all the countries in BRICS make a major contribution to the emissions, the concept of achieving climate neutrality is relevant for sustainable development and economic growth. With reference to the topic, the chapter underscores the need for policy comprehensiveness, encouragement of technology advancement and sound governance systems. They analyze the importance of institutional credibility and the challenges of internal constraints addressed through international collaboration. In addition, the chapter outlines main barriers to climate policies, including political volatility and regulatory risks. This paper has made an argument that through use of green technologies as well as through dealing with inequal income the BRICS countries have option to solve two problems: economic growth and environmental impacts. Last section provides recommendations for policymakers to enhance institutionalization of renewable energy infrastructure and recognize the long-term development advantages of decarbonization and structure green growth for sustainable development.
