Urbanization is a growing issue for city planners. The rapidly increasing urban population is exerting pressure on the resources of the world, which makes citizens look for more viable service delivery models that are faster, cheaper, and more efficient. City planners are tasked with providing adequate infrastructure support for cities to run effectively. These are potable water, electricity, housing, transportation, and information and communication technology (ICT). As the demand in communities around the world continues to grow, city planners have responded by leveraging technology to improve citizens’ quality of life and drive economic growth both locally and globally. This chapter explores the many technical options available. This chapter provides the spectrum of current technological options that can efficiently and quickly deliver services to planned communities. However, technological solutions (big data, cloud computing, IoT, AI/ML) These are the technologies that are going to be very useful for cities. Planners use the wealth of data to make informed decisions about their communities’ futures. Policymakers can, for example, use technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), etc.) to push for the integration of state-of-the-art sensors and wireless connectivity into countless physical objects.

摘要
