The socioeconomic infrastructure systems in the local metropolitan area of Japan are getting much more meager. More concretely, putting less trains or buses into service or even abandonment of public transport systems have made the residents lose their transportation options. On the other hand, introduction of sharing economy is expected to overcome the above-mentioned social issues such as food deserts and low quality of life. This study explains an example of car sharing service which is introduced to a university in a local area of Japan and analyze the data about how the students used the services. Then the authors use the queueing theory with a computational experiment to see how many potential users there were and how many cars there would be required if the number of users were more as a scenario analysis.
