Before and After Conservation—Significance of a Pectoral Depicting the Images of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas

Archaeological finds from Gandhāra, those recovered from illegal excavations, are mostly untraceable as to their exact provenance. Reading, interpretation and identification of such objects may not be a problem for researchers, however, for most of these objects, their origin generally remains uncertain to them. This may be either be due to lack of concrete information, for reasons of lack of scientific interest or for obligations of commitments or agreements concluded with their owners.
