Rapid urbanization creates significant problems in the distribution of cities’ limited resources. To address the challenges of rapid urbanization, both governments and municipalities need financial resources. However, urbanization challenges need to be addressed not only with physical or financial resources, but also with smart solutions. At this stage, the solutions provided by “Smart City” applications are important to achieve more livable cities. Integrating Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into smart city frameworks enables the development of practical solutions to address a variety of urban challenges. Evaluating digital technologies for smart cities represents a typical Multi-criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) problem. However, the process becomes complex when data is imprecise, making it challenging to select and prioritize alternatives. Decision-makers (DMs) often face difficulties in articulating their preferences through precise numerical values. Fuzzy numbers offer decision-makers (DMs) a more adaptable way to express their preferences, effectively minimizing the uncertainty inherent in fuzzy MCDM approaches. This study focuses on the assessment of digital technologies for smart cities through the application of fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making methodologies. The framework for evaluation is developed based on a thorough review of existing literature, industry reports, and consultations with experts. The fuzzy SAW technique was applied to determine the relative significance of the evaluation criteria, while the fuzzy COPRAS method was used to evaluate the digital technologies. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach, a practical application is carried out, and the results are examined in depth.
