Internationally, climate change research focuses on impacts and adaptation, both crucial and interdependent. Adaptation measures are essential for mitigating adverse effects on ecosystems and societies and promoting sustainable regional development. The impacts of climate change are particularly severe in major countries such as the United States, China, Russia, and the United Kingdom. These impacts can influence global economic and social development through interconnected mechanisms such as trade. Less developed regions, with weaker economic resilience, are more vulnerable to climate change, struggling to cope with such crises. This chapter analyzes climate change impacts from a Development Geography perspective across six dimensions: agriculture, water resources, health, energy, disasters, poverty, and employment. The objectives are to understand the regional impacts of climate change, the importance of adaptation measures, and the need for sustainable regional development to ensure healthy progress. The objectives of this chapter are as follows: 1. To assess the direct and indirect impacts of climate change on various sectors of regional economy, including agriculture, water resources, human health, disaster risk, poverty, and employment. 2. To understand the regional disparities in the extent and severity of these impacts, recognizing that different regions may be more or less vulnerable to climate change due to their unique geographical, economic, and social characteristics. 3. To highlight the urgency of addressing climate change and its impacts on regional development, emphasizing the need for adaptive strategies and policies to mitigate potential harm and foster resilience. 4. To provide a framework for analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of adaptation measures, aiming to inform policymakers and stakeholders about the best practices for addressing climate change impacts in diverse regions.
