In Japan, detailed discussions on the indication for preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M), i.e., “which couples are justified to undergo PGT-M,” have just begun. At present, PGT-M for low penetration or late-onset hereditary disease, such as hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC), is not publicly allowed domestically. Globally, although PGT-M for HBOC is already being implemented, it is not systematically recommended in the guidelines. Thus, its handling remains a controversial area not only from a medical standpoint but also from a bioethical perspective.

摘要
