Design with Climate
摘要
Climate-responsive design has become increasingly crucial for architects and building operators, as extreme weather events continue to cause significant damage to human health, life, resources, and economies globally. This Chapter examines the evolution and implementation of climate-responsive design strategies, focusing on passive, active, and hybrid approaches for building design in the context of climate change adaptation and mitigation. Heat waves, flooding, quakes and typhoons are no new vocabularies on a daily routine. The Chapter attempts to delineate the scope for climate-responsive design, presenting resilient strategies and measures for adapting and mitigating the impacts of climate change through Passive, Active, and Hybrid building design. It offers insights into low carbon building materials, casting projections for the new future, and derives strategic guidance for design, construction and operation. Focusing on climate adaptability, this section provides a roadmap for creating buildings that are resilient to climate change and contribute to a sustainable future.
