Measurement of Thermal Conductivity and Specific Heat of Water-Based Alumina Nanofluids

This study focusses on the measurement of the thermal conductivity and specific heat of water-based alumina nanofluids. A two-step method is employed to synthesize water-based alumina nanofluids. The two-step method involved the distillation and neutralization of water, dispersion of alumina nanoparticles, and surfactant SDBS (sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate) into distilled water through a carefully optimized process to ensure uniformity and stability. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the thermal conductivity and specific heat of the nanofluids compared to pure water. The thermal conductivity measurements were conducted using established experimental techniques, providing valuable insights into the heat transfer capabilities of the nanofluids. The findings from this study show that the thermal conductivity of alumina nanofluid increases as the concentration of nanoparticles increases in the base fluid.
