This paper presents the current trends and future outlook of Generative AI-spirited innovations in the Internet of Things sector. AI and IoT integration probes for progress and innovation opportunities in terms of data handling, network management, automation, and predictive maintenance with applications in smart cities, care provision, and industry applications. Although these are opportunities, the incorporation of Generative AI with IoT also has challenges, which include computational and energy limitations, security and privacy aspects, quality of data, and how to interconnect different IoT systems. They all pose great challenges, which are discussed in detail in this paper, and their implications for the future of Generative AI in IoT are examined. Overcoming these challenges can allow stakeholders to achieve the benefits of this convergence, increase innovation, and optimize business processes in various fields. It also discusses future research highlights to help the current ongoing work to obtain the most from Generative AI in IoT systems.

摘要
