An Origami-Inspired Mascot Design for China’s National Stadium
摘要
This paper explores the potential of origami in mascot design through the lens of Yay Yay Chirp, an origami-inspired mascot that clinched the Best Mascot Award from China’s National Stadium. Through an analysis of its design journey across four stages––orientation, selection, style and implementation––the writer-as-designer unveils the unique possibilities that origami offers for creating engaging and culturally significant mascots. This case study not only highlights the birth of Yay Yay Chirp but also paves the way for future innovation at the intersection of origami and mascot design.
